At Abbey Road studios, on Saturday 5th March 2022, London band Ooberfuse recorded their latest single “Vanish the Night – Putin Must Go” speaking out against totalitarian regimes. The single asks sabre-rattling authoritarian global leaders to stop using their powers and influence to intimidate, belittle and crush people. The new single will form part of the band’s repertoire in their upcoming UK tour supporting M-People’s Heather Small.
The empowering dance anthem “Vanish The Night” is co-produced by Paul Pritchard (Elton John, London Grammar, Anne-Marie and Wolf Alice).
Cherrie Anderson says:
“It is almost inconceivable that in these early years of the 21st Century, the world stands on the brink of a potentially catastrophic 3rd World War. For the people of the Ukraine, the war has already begun. Whilst politicians on the world stage have their hands tied in terms of their response to Putin’s deadly aggression, as musicians we felt we cannot remain silent.”
From Hal St John:
“Vanish the Night was written as a diatribe against the oppressive strategies adopted by totalitarian regimes. It calls for an end to the darkness that follows in the wake of state-sponsored violence. How can it be that after the horrors of the 2 previous World Wars, yet again international peacekeepers are sat on the touchline watching an aggressor like Putin literally destroy a previously prosperous nation. We should never be paralysed to inaction because of the menacing threats of bullies throwing their weight around on the world stage. Enough is enough…ordinary people need to come to the defence of our suffering Ukrainian brothers and sisters.”
Following the Abbey Road recording, the Putin Must Go mix will be on general release from 17 March 2022. “Vanish The Night” will appear on the upcoming parent album ‘A State of Emergency’.
